From the March 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Many Cultures Embrace the concept of the Supreme Being as a universal Mother. It's a warm idea of the creator that almost anyone can relate to. Yet in some religious traditions the concept of God has been so predominantly masculine that women are regarded as less important than men. Do men and women have equal claim to the status "image of God"?

Articles in this issue help to answer that question. More than we may realize society's concept of God has a direct impact on the progress of women (and men) worldwide. This point shouldn't be overlooked as discussion focuses more on women's issues during March which is designated as Women History Month in the United States.

Another unifying idea in articles this month is God's nature as healer. Learn more about how to pray steadfastly and effectively from those who have experienced divine healing. Such healing is not too much to expect from an all-powerful, all-loving Father-Mother God.
