Women in the military—rolling away the stone

From the March 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Recently the Journal invited three women, chaplains in different branches of the United States military, to share their thoughts with on how their understanding of God has affected their lives in the armed services.

US Air Force chaplain Lieutenant Colonel (select) ("Terri") told us that her preparation for serving as a chaplain and office in the military started long before she ever conceived of such an idea.

It flowed from her mother's daily prayer for her four daughters, adapted from a passage in the Old Testament book of Job: "There is a spirit in each of my daughters, and the inspiration of the Almighty gives them wisdom and understanding and all the guidance they need each and every day of their lives." See Job 32:8.
