NEVER ALONE

The husbanding love of God

Being single or widowed is not a deterrent to feeling Love's care and provision.

From the March 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Is The Promise of God's husbanding love true and practical? Can we prove it? We all yearn to feel tenderly loved, nurtured, supported, supplied. That longing can be satisfied for everyone. The Bible says, referring to Israel, "Thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called." Isa. 54:5.

My friend was married, but she longed for completeness.

I had been aware of this assurance in the Bible and often acknowledged the spiritual fact implied in it—that God is the source of all good and that we are inseparable from that good. In the relation that each one has to God, he or she finds completeness. God certainly provides for every need, including the warmth of companionship, the joy of friendship, and the supply to care for us in every way.
