Testimonies of Healing

Help in a crisis

From the March 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Recently I was ill, and I woke one morning feeling as though I were passing on. I turned whole-heartedly to God in prayer. I clung to a passage I had memorized from Science and Health that says: "All reality is in God and His creation, harmonious and eternal. That which He creates is good, and He makes all that is made. Therefore the only reality of sin, sickness, or death is the awful fact that unrealities seem real to human, erring belief, until God strips off their disguise" (p. 472). I had learned that all inharmony of the body is illusion. The words reality and illusion stood out to me. I heard myself saying, "There is no death. Death is nonintelligence. Death is unreal." I then felt calm instead of being fearful of what was happening.

I heard myself saying, "There is no death."

I was able to call a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me. He shared with me the truth that there is no life in the body. Life is God, Spirit, and I reflect that Life. I held to the spiritual inspiration the practitioner gave me. I prayed, not to try to put health in my body, but to express gratitude for health and for the light of knowing I was God's perfect, spiritual child. Christ Jesus said, "The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise" (John 5:19).
