Testimonies of Healing

Quick release from illness

From the March 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Divine Love Always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 494). I was thinking recently about these words written by Mary Baker Eddy. I was struck by the different ways in which God, divine Love, has met my needs through the years. I would like to share three experiences that illustrate a variety of ways in which Truth has come to my thinking and quick healings have resulted.

God was loving me at that very minute.

I attended a very unpleasant meeting one evening. When I arrived home, I was tired and very disturbed about the unkind behavior that had been exhibited at the meeting. For a short while I prayed about the situation, trying to recognize each person at the meeting as being a child of God and only capable of being loving. Before I felt completely settled about it, I fell asleep. In the middle of the night, I woke, shivering with chills. I felt awful. For a short while I tried to pray for myself, but I seemed unable to think clearly, and called a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. A warm, loving voice greeted my late-night call, and I was immediately assured that God was holding me in His arms, loving me at that very minute. The practitioner agreed to pray for me right away. Within moments, a warm sense of God's ever-present love surrounded me. It was a very tangible feeling of being held close in God's arms. The chills immediately disappeared, and I quickly fell asleep again. The following morning I got up and went to work as usual, completely free from any illness.
