Childhood healing recounted

My Brother, Sister, and I were raised as Christian Scientists, and we witnessed and experienced many quick and complete healings as we grew up. These included broken bones set and healed within hours, so-called childhood diseases gone overnight, bee stings proved harmless, and sprains overcome.

No part of me could be damaged, since I am God's image and reflection.

One that I remember most clearly, happened when I was just six years old. My family and some friends had gone to a local park for the day. My father bought me one of the windmill-pinwheel toys, and I was watching it spin in the breeze as I ran. I tripped over something, and the metal pin pushed into my eye when I fell. I began to scream, and my brother scooped me up and carried me to my mother. Mother pulled the pin from my eye and spoke to me so calmly as she told me I was God's perfect child, right now, and that nothing had happened or could ever happen to God's loved child. She then began to sing my favorite hymn to me, "Mother's Evening Prayer" by Mary Baker Eddy (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 207). The first verse says:
