Testimonies of Healing

Christian Science restores wholeness

From the May 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

During my college years I studied comparative religions, but did not see any need for religion in my life. I had been raised as a Christian Scientist, but I married someone of another faith, and was more concerned with finding the middle ground between our two widely differing backgrounds. But by the time our son was old enough to attend Sunday School, I began to feel an emptiness in my life and a desire to give our children a sense of God's presence and His love for them. Also, I had had a very bad experience with the side effects of medicine during a miscarriage and had concluded that this was not the best available means of healing.

I began to read Science and Health daily, then obtained a copy of the Christian Science Quarterly to read the Weekly Bible Lessons. Finally I began to attend the local branch Church of Christ, Scientist, where our son was enrolled in Sunday School.

One of the dearest healings in my life occurred shortly after our daughter's birth. When she was only ten weeks old, she developed allergies that made it difficult for her to breathe while lying flat. She was under the care of a very dedicated pediatrician, who prescribed medication and recommended that the baby's mattress be placed on a slant. Well, the baby simply slid down to the bottom of the crib.
