A JOURNAL FAMILY ALBUM

In January we began a series in appreciation of the Journal's contribution to the twentieth century. This month we reprint an article and testimonies from the 1940s. The article presents a spiritual perspective on the tragic events of World War II. It points to Biblical prophecy and counsel and to the absolute spiritual truths of divine Science with which we can combat and destroy the claims of evil. One of the testimonies that follow is by a woman who found protection through her understanding of God and of true substance when her neighborhood was bombed during the war.

"Stand in the holy place"

From the May 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The world scene seems dark indeed to the material senses. But who has ever found reality by means of the material senses, or by accepting as fact what these senses say is taking place? And is it not reality that we desire? However cruel, however tragic, however threatening the situation that the lying voice of evil suggests to us, the lie can never cross from its realm of supposition into the realm of reality; it can never endanger God or His creation, His man.
