I WAS STUNNED when I learned that a meeting that required a lot of preparation on my part was to be held three days earlier than I had been told. I was torn between anger at the club members for not correcting the date and gratitude that I had at least learned of the mistake the day before the meeting!
I already had an appointment scheduled for the afternoon before the meeting and another commitment in the evening. Unwilling to cancel either, I decided I would just get up early the next day to prepare. While rushing around doing some shopping that morning, I severely injured my foot.
I could hardly breathe for the pain. I stood there with my eyes closed, thinking, "Oh no, not now, when I have so little time!" Unable to put any weight on my foot, I stood balanced on one foot. Reaching out to God, the only thing that came to me wasthe Lord's Prayer, with its spiritual interpretation from Science and Health (see pp. 16-17).
