Testimonies of Healing

Breathing difficulty overcome

From the July 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Several years ago I began to have difficulty breathing at times. The problem worsened, so I asked a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me. I prayed for the understanding to see myself as filled with the breath of God, who is Life, Truth, and Love. I also thought about the perfection of all God's children, and prayed by declaring that I was made in the likeness of God, that I was a spiritual idea, and that my life was in God.

At times I would even shout that nothing evil could have power over me.

The practitioner suggested I think about these statements in Science and Health: "In Science man is the offspring of Spirit. The beautiful, good, and pure constitute his ancestry. His origin is not, like that of mortals, in brute instinct, nor does he pass through material conditions prior to reaching intelligence. Spirit is his primitive and ultimate source of being; God is his Father, and Life is the law of his being" (p. 63).
