Now, this is church

From the July 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Church had become a chore for me. I didn't feel any connection to the town my church is located in, which is about ten miles from where we live, and I was bothered by some differences in opinion among the membership. I longed for a more fulfilling church experience. Here's how that prayer was answered.

One evening during the holidays, my wife and I were commenting on our many blessings and saying how grateful we were for health, rewarding work, and financial stability. I mentioned that I wished some of our neighbors who had problems in these same areas could feel God's peace and love.

Then my wife told me about the progress she'd seen in the lives of several of our neighbors during the five years we've lived in our current home. She's a Christian Science nurse and takes care of Christian Scientists in our home, so she is at home practically all of the time. She also naturally expresses warmth and kindness to everyone she meets, so she has gotten to know our neighbors very well.
