Heaven in Jakarta

This "outsider" finds safety in his love for everyone.

From the July 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My parents and my family are all Muslims. In fact, my father was a Muslim imam and preacher. I went to Muslim schools until I graduated from high school. Then, I went to live with my brother and his wife while I attended the Academy of Foreign Language, where I learned English and, best of all, was free to consider other religions. For about three years, I attended Christian churches and found the people at them very kind and brotherly.

I pray to forgive the extremists . . . And I know that God protects all people.

While attending the Academy, I became quite ill and couldn't sleep. I was also very depressed and had tremors. A doctor treated me for a long time, but I wasn't cured. Then one day, I passed in front of the Christian Science Reading Room in Jakarta. I had learned about Christian Science and many other Christian denominations in high school, but the teacher discredited them. Even at the time, I didn't think it was fair, so I was happy to learn about it myself. The Reading Room attendants told me that Christian Science can heal. And someone gave me a copy of Science and Health in Indonesian.
