Christian Science Committees on Publication: THE WHO, WHAT, AND WHY

From the July 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Many people today are seeking spiritual growth and prayer-based approach to problem-solving. For some, this includes exploring alternative means for healing with open-mindedness and, at times, urgency. Such sincere seekers might well be interested in the message of Christian Science contained in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, but they may encounter obstacles discouraging their examination of the book. These might include ignorant or misleading press items about Christian Science, about the author of Science and Health, Mary Baker Eddy, or about those who practice spiritual healing. Another common obstacle is the absence of information about Christian healing and Science and Health.

To identify and help remove these roadblocks, Christian Science Committees on Publication worldwide provide fresh, accurate information to the media about spirituality in general and, more specifically, about the practice of Christian Science healing. Their goal is to help the public find practical spiritual answers to everyday concerns.

In addition to their work with the media, Committees on Publication are actively involved with State, Federal, and jurisdictional governments in the effort to preserve and advance religious freedom for all people. Recently, this work has brought together Committees on Publication and those from other faiths and faith-based organizations in unique, cooperative ways. These collaborations promise to benefit worshipers around the world.
