A Little Over A Year Ago, I was the chair of a governing board in a rural community. One evening, a man came before the board to air a grievance. Within a few moments, though unprovoked, he began talking about guns and shooting people, including public officials. The meeting was cut short and rescheduled to the next week.
During that time, I learned that he was being treated for mental instability after being discharged from the military. The postponement of the meeting gave me time to think deeply about God's law for an insight into how to deal with this situation.
Trusting God as divine Principle, Love, was the start of my prayer. What was God seeing here? Was it this potentially violent person, or was it the "very good" man described in the first chapter of Genesis in the Bible? This good man is completely spiritual, made in the likeness of God—useful, productive, harmless.
