Incurability is a subject of interest to doctors and other healers—and often their patients. The following article, excerpted from the German magazine Visionen's May 2002 issue, was published in the book Geshundheit und geistige Entfaltung ("Health and Spiritual Unfoldment") in 1996. We felt the ideas in it offer some food for thought and prayer.

There is no incurable disease

From the January 2003 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Notion that certain illnesses are incurable is the greatest error that man is subject to today. In reality, he simply hasn't found a cure for the disease, and so he calls it incurable. But in calling a sickness incurable he robs the patient of hope, and not only in relation to human help, also in relation to divine help. It cannot therefore be right to make someone believe there is no healing for him. If the source and the goal are perfect, then the achievement of perfection is possible; since health is perfection, it can be reached.

All Strength Resides In The Spirit. Each person possesses the strength to the degree that he is close to the spirit. But everyone has at least a spark of the spirit inside and should know that he bears the responsibility for his own health as his own healer. He should also know that he has a part to contribute to this, and that the responsibility is not only with the doctor or the healer. He must at the same time be ready to himself take on the role of healer, in order to experience what his condition is, what is wrong with him, and how he can be healed. If he doesn't find out what must be done, he can ask others for help, but first he has to have the wish to be healed.

Every person is able, through prayer, meditation, and stillness, to nourish his faith in his health and to remove the foundation for the fear of sickness.
