At a crossroads—that's where occupational therapist and certified hand therapist Julie Amendola of Arlington, Texas, found herself five years ago. And it's where part one of Julie's real-life spiritual journey left off (see the May 2003 issue of the Journal).
To recap: In 1996, a patient at Julie's clinic, The Fort Worth Hand Rehabilitation Center, gave her a copy of Science and Health. In an ironic twist, two years later Julie badly damaged her hand in a horseback riding accident. Unhappy with the iffiness of medical options and the limitations of her own hand therapy program, Julie turned to Christian Science-based prayer for help. Her hand was healed. But with healing came a dilemma: Now what? Julie's newfound relationship with God and the spiritual growth that resulted brought with it a whole set of practical questions and concerns.
As part two reveals, sorting things out and getting answers wouldn't be easy. Julie would have to dig deep. The message she received: Be patient. And trust—in the power and guiding influence of the Divine.
