One day my father told me he had enjoyed talking to a young man who had come to the house and left us an invitation to a Christian Science lecture. I ended up going to this lecture with my wife, and since the lecture was interesting, I took down the address of a Church of Christ, Scientist. I attended for the first time on a Wednesday, and found the testimony meeting unusual because I had never before seen people talking in public about their experiences with prayer.
Each time I attended these meetings I left feeling like a better person. I bought a few issues of The Herald of Christian Science and Mary Baker Eddy's book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. As I read the book I started to see life from a different perspective. I used to be temperamental and argued with everybody, but the concepts presented in the book brought me equilibrium.
At that time, I had not been a salaried employee for five years. I was making ends meet as a consultant for multinational corporations. I was always chasing after jobs, but as I kept reading Science and Health, I began to feel different about my job quest. And, to my surprise, when I stopped chasing jobs, the opportunities began to spring up.
