LETTERS

From the June 2003 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Some time ago, I wrote to you with a request for articles that were more metaphysical in their explanation of the healing effect of prayer in Christian Science. I've just read several very inspiring and helpful contributions in the April issue of the Journal that were included in the article "How I pray..." I found each one valuable for their clear reliance on the spiritual sense of reality they received from God that directly contradicted the testimony of the material sense of their situation.

Of special interest to me were the ideas expressed by Madelon Maupin Miles and William H. Hill and how they prayed about grief and economic stability, respectively. I appreciated the trust they placed in the evidence of spiritual ideas conveyed directly to them from God as scientific realities. They wanted to understand their relationship to God in the context of the universal principle of divine Love sustaining and supporting all creation, and so do I. Thank you for making that greater understanding available to your readers through these fine contributions.
