Soon after beginning an academic career teaching philosophy and Western civilization at The Chinese University in Hong Kong, Bruce Fitzwater turned to his greatest interest—Christian Science healling. He became a practitioner in 1973 and a Christian Science teacher in 1985. Recently Bruce has traveled throughout China and is learning to speak Chinese. He and his wife, Cindy, live in Portland, Oregon.

Judy Wolff lives in Arlington, Virginia, just minutes from the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, where she and her husband, Russ, attend the theater regularly. During college, she says she "took a walk on the prodigal side," and fell away from Christian Science for a year or two. "But in my heart I never really left it," she admits. Judy became a Christian Science practitioner in 1997 and a teacher of Christian Science in 2003.

Mary Ellen Edwards has a master's degree in education and has been teaching in the public school system for 16 years. She's also a librarian and teaches English as a second language. "Kids keep me honest," she says. "I don't know who's doing more of the learning—the students or me." Mary Ellen lives with her husband, Brian, in Toronto, Canada.

During spring break last year Ashley Korthals didn't kick back and relax. Instead, she volunteered on a Native American reservation. The lessons she learned about true giving helped her later when she volunteered at a shelter for abused children in her home town of St. Louis. Ashley has begun her freshman year at Dickinson College, in Pennsylvania, and plans to continue her volunteer work.
