WHEN OUR CHILDREN were growing up, we lived on a farm. We successfully practiced Christian Science to heal all our problems, even those of our animals. One incident stands out in particular. Our son Lyon, then in the 11th grade, had a remarkable healing. This healing once again proved to our family that "with God all things are possible" (Matt. 19:26).
At the end of spring break, Lyon and his brother went riding on their new Honda 125 motorcycles (dirt bikes). When I heard one motorcycle come in the driveway and my husband drive out of the driveway in the Jeep, I knew something was amiss. I immediately turned wholeheartedly to God in prayer. I affirmed that Lyon's—and everyone's—spiritual identity is always safe and that no one can ever be separated from God's presence and protection.
The boys had been going about 55 mph in a field across the road when Lyon hit a hole and was thrown from his bike. His dad and brother brought him into the house. We made a fire to warm him up, as he was very cold and shaking. When we cut his jacket off, we could see that one arm was broken above his wrist and that he had broken his collarbone on the opposite side of his body.
