A letter of gratitude

From the September 2011 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Mother Church receives many appreciative letters and e-mails each year from new members of the Church. Nathan Talbot, the Clerk of The Mother Church, received the following e-mail from a new member, a former  Trappist monk who is currently employed in environmental services at a hospital and is aspiring to be a Christian Science nurse. Warmest greetings of brotherly love to you and Margie; your family; and all the brothers and sisters at The Mother Church!

I am so grateful and honored about my acceptance as a member of The Mother
Church in Boston. I truly feel embraced in much Truth and Love wherever I am throughout the day and night.

The Christian Science branch church I attend has a bylaw that you have to have been a student of Christian Science for a year and been coming for services for three months before asking for an application. I understand that each local branch church of The Mother Church can have their own bylaws in that regard, but also have to always be in unity and communion with The Mother Church and the teachings of Christian Science.
