Testimonies of Healing

Shoulder bump gone

From the March 2014 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One day several years ago I noticed a small bump on my shoulder. I was very worried about it, and I called my Christian Science teacher to pray with me. I was afraid that I had cancer and might die. I had heard people on television describing what I saw on my shoulder as this disease.

My teacher reminded me that throughout the first chapter of Genesis God says, “And it was so.” To me that meant that what God made was a done deal—no questions or doubts about it. And in Genesis 1 we also read: “God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good” (verse 31). So, not only was I a “done deal”—a complete idea of God—but I was also very good. God is my Father-Mother, who knows everything about me, and says, “I am so pleased with you! And I always will be.”

During the summer, my husband and I brought our kids to the beach on vacation. The thought occurred to me that maybe I should cover the bump while out in the sun. However, I didn't know if I should put added emphasis on my shoulder. I wanted to feel free to enjoy time with my family on the beach—not to be distracted by my body and personal worries.
