Finding our Savior

From the August 2015 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Because the life of Christ Jesus is central to Christian Science, it’s always worthwhile to consider what his life means to us. And the way to truly understand and appreciate Jesus is to follow in his footsteps. If the gospel message lives for us only in the pages of a book, something truly vital is missing. The heart requires so much more. We want to feel the depth of Jesus’ love and the strength of his quiet courage, and to know their source—his divine nature and eternal sonship with God.

Christian Science encourages us to take the steps necessary to fill the gaps in our appreciation of Jesus. A loved poem by the Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, begins:

Saw ye my Saviour? Heard ye the glad sound?
Felt ye the power of the Word?
’Twas the Truth that made us free,
And was found by you and me
In the life and the love of our Lord.
