Not needed at that meeting?

From the April 2016 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Recently I felt there was no need for me to attend a scheduled business meeting at my branch Church of Christ, Scientist.

It was a warm, humid day, and I felt I would be more comfortable at home. I reasoned that I wasn’t needed, that I had no business background or expertise, and that I wasn’t giving a report. The arguments seemed logical and persuasive.

However, I had been doing a lot of studying and praying the few weeks prior to this meeting. As I was planning out my evening, the thought came clearly that I needed to obey God. I saw I needed to be more responsive to God’s will, which is always good, and set aside personal desires and plans, and humbly listen for clear guidance.
