“Hi, Mom. Just wanted to let you know we’ve had a good healing.” Our twenty-year-old son, James Tyler, was calling. My husband and I were on our way to a dinner for our eldest daughter at her high school. We were about an hour from home, and our son was taking care of four of his younger siblings.
James Tyler had picked up the two youngest children from their bus after school and was waiting for the middle school bus to arrive. Our youngest son, Robin, was playing tag nearby with some friends. He fell face-first on the sidewalk, breaking his two front teeth and injuring his bottom lip. Robin was crying, his mouth was bleeding, and a crowd of parents and children had gathered. Some of the other children started to cry, too.
James Tyler sat down with Robin to comfort him, while his little sister went to get some napkins to help with cleanup. As the second eldest of seven children, James Tyler had witnessed many healings in his family as a result of turning to God in prayer. Our children had learned at a very early age that God’s love and guidance give them a strength on which to rely, even when Mom and Dad aren’t right there. James Tyler reminded his little brother that the love and comfort of his Father-Mother God was already keeping him safe. His spiritual identity as a child of God was always intact, and he could never be separated from God’s love. The crowd was very supportive, and Robin’s friends seemed to feel better, too. The other bus had arrived by then, so James Tyler helped Robin up and took him to the car with his other brother and sisters.
