Each theme chosen for the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church is of great significance, especially as we study it thoroughly. The theme for 2019, “. . . that we may be able . . .” (II Corinthians 1:4), reminded me of the admiration I felt for the works accomplished by Christ Jesus. My father would tell my sisters and me about these healing works during my childhood, all of us sitting on their bed. I had a burning desire to “be able” to help and heal too, as Jesus encouraged his followers.
From where can we draw this ability, and how can we become imbued with it?
In the Holy Scriptures, one of the great promises given to us by Jesus is, “Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me . . . unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:8).
