For some time, I would wake up at night with sharp pains in my lower abdomen, a phenomenon that worried me more and more. My regular readings of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, which is the textbook of Christian Science, comforted me, but the pain seemed to persist and even get worse.
I faithfully affirmed that all the spiritual ideas that make up our real, perfect, spiritual identity are structured and upheld by divine law. And God’s law ensures the harmony of the indestructible functions of the true man.
In Science and Health we read, “The less that is said of physical structure and laws, and the more that is thought and said about moral and spiritual law, the higher will be the standard of living and the farther mortals will be removed from imbecility or disease” (p. 197).
