I recently experienced a trying time that brought me closer to God.
A couple of years into our marriage, my husband and I decided we were ready to have children. We had seen how much joy children bring, and we knew that they would be a blessing to us and the world around us. However, after what felt like a long time, no child had come along.
Working with what we had learned in Christian Science Sunday School and Christian Science class instruction, we prayed with the idea that all creation comes from Spirit, God. But after a while, we thought we should pray more specifically about pregnancy and sought the help of a Christian Science practitioner—someone whose occupation is praying for others, on the basis of an understanding of God.
