I am so grateful for the inspiration that came to Mary Baker Eddy to give Christian Science to the world, and for her writings and for her establishing the periodicals and the weekly Bible Lessons. How blessed we are to have, at our fingertips, fresh inspiration when it is needed.
In 2017 I started noticing that when I lay on my left side, I had pain in my left breast. As a Christian Scientist, praying to heal physical problems was natural to me. At that time, however, I had a pretty full plate, and it seemed that every minute of every day was filled with running multiple businesses, helping with family needs, and being active in church. Keeping so busy left little time to pray and made it easy to ignore the pain. Even during the night, I didn’t feel I had time to pray, so I would just roll onto my right side. But I knew that wasn’t the way to deal with the pain properly.
Then one day in early 2018, the pain could no longer be ignored, and I could feel a lump in the area. I knew I needed to devote actual time to prayer. Having learned that God directs us to just what we need when it is needed, I opened the latest issue of the Christian Science Sentinel to the first article, entitled “A Rock of stability for nations” (Randal Craft, February 26, 2018). My first thought was, “Well, that doesn’t really apply to my situation, but I guess I’ll read it.”
