Healing of intense pain

From the June 2021 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I began to experience intense pain in my head in the middle of a planning meeting at the university where I worked. Sensing that something was desperately wrong, the people in the room became quiet and fearful.

The thought came to ask them to pray aloud with me the Lord’s Prayer and the twenty-third Psalm. With my focus on these comforting and healing prayers from the Bible, I felt no fear or pain by the time an ambulance arrived.

At the hospital, the doctor spoke of the gravity of the situation and recommended surgery immediately. He also warned that, without medical treatment, the same symptoms would recur within six months. Nonetheless, I wanted to rely on God for healing.
