Promised Land

I’m searching for my Promised Land
Where milk and honey flow
Where I with God walk hand in hand
And children safely grow

I long to end my slavery
To weakness, want, and sin
To see the part in my Red Sea
And freedom from within

On bended knee I make my vow
And gratefully, humbly weep
Although I don’t know when or how . . .
God’s promises, He’ll keep

I know my journey may be long
Through wilderness of fears
My faith is growing ever strong
Must I wait forty years?

No! Blessings flow from up above
I’m happy, safe, secure
I feel encircled in God’s love
I know I will endure!

With Christ as my true, constant guide,
I recognize my answered prayer . . .
I, here and now, in peace abide
My Promised Land is not “out there”

There’s not some hill that I must climb
To find some distant land
While waiting for a future time . . .
My home is where I stand!
