God’s supremacy and consistency

From the November 2023 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Have you ever had a healing you thought was complete, but then, as though out of nowhere, the problem reappeared?

If this happens, we might feel frustrated, fearful, or even question how healing occurs. A reappearance can sometimes challenge us in how we think about our health, finances, or relationships. Thoughts from mortal mind—the belief there is a mind apart from God—falsely claim that the good in our lives can be reversed. However, healing happens when we turn to God and deeply acknowledge spiritual truth, thereby correcting any lie about us.

Truth, being God, is all substance and is irreversible and consistent. The Bible expresses it this way: “I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me” (Isaiah 45:5). In other words, there is just one God, one cause and effect. There is one infinite God giving us, His spiritual offspring, constant care. Therefore, there is no actual power or authority to reverse the good God is giving.
