Readers Respond

From the November 2025 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Jens Borghoff, “Parenting—bearing witness to God’s complete creation,” Journal, August 2025

Though I don’t have children, Jens Borghoff’s beautiful sharing of his approach to parenting resonated with me. It occurred to me while reading that these values—kindness, respect, and avoiding patronizing behavior—can be just as easily (and necessarily) applied to our interactions with anyone with whom we might be involved in a parenting or guiding way, regardless of their age or relationship to us.

This is such an excellent, teaching article, and most of all, it gave me great encouragement to keep working to help meet the seemingly desperate need that people around the world are facing at this particular time.

Inspiration I needed

When the Journal arrives in my mailbox, I can’t wait to begin reading it! When I’m troubled about world, church, or even personal issues, it always lifts my thought, and I gain new insights on how I can pray to help bring about practical solutions. And the July 2025 issue was no exception. The articles, editorial, and testimonies were just the inspiration I needed. I always read the issue from cover to cover. I don’t want to miss anything! Blessings to all those who write for and edit these healing magazines.

Kit Cornell Kurtz, “The magnificent,” Journal, July 2025

I am so grateful for this poem. In the first stanza I saw a phrase that jumped out at me: mortal drama. Yes! So much seeming drama all over the world.

God was there

        .  .  .  .  .

putting mortal drama
in its place
as nothingness—
voiceless.

Voiceless started my thinking immediately. Stop giving drama a voice! I am striving each day to do just that. What an inspirational poem!
