In regard to the article in the August 2026 issue of The Christian Science Journal entitled “The Manual of The Mother Church vs. changing times,” we would like to clarify that the author’s comments about reading from the books during a church service is not a policy from the Christian Science Board of Directors.
Through the decades, different articles in our periodicals have brought different perspectives on how divine inspiration has guided each member, our branch churches, and the movement as a whole. This was one such article.
