Testimony of Healing

Incurable diagnosis overturned and character improved

From the October 2026 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am a new student of Christian Science from Japan. With the help of a Christian Science practitioner, I was introduced to the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, written by Mary Baker Eddy 100 years before I was born. I want to share my testimony.

In 2013, I felt something was wrong in my abdomen and went to the hospital. I was diagnosed as having malignant lymphoma, a disease considered incurable, and was given five years to live. The doctor was worried and urged me to be hospitalized and operated on immediately. In spite of the urgency, I could not agree to his suggestion. The diagnosis was a huge shock to me.

Fortunately, the librarian of the Christian Science Reading Room in Tokyo had already sent me a copy of Science and Health, and I had started to read it. I had also been in touch with a Christian Science practitioner who kept telling me “God is Love” over and over again in our emails. Over time, that message must have changed how I felt about myself.
