I was struggling with self-pity and sadness, when a stray kitty came into my life. Benny was a wonderful gift. We spent every day together and had great fun. One day when I was hugging him, with his nose on mine, he put his little paws on my face, and I felt that he loved me so much. I immediately had a thought from God that said, “I love you more.”
One night, as my husband was coming into the house, Benny ran out the door and into the woods. It was dark, and he was gone. I was heartbroken. We looked and called, but to no avail.
I prayed each day, turning wholeheartedly to God and affirming that God loved Benny and knew where he was and would keep him safe. When I worried about Benny being outside with wild animals, I remembered this from the Bible: “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them” (Isaiah 11:6).
