When Violet Hay writes, “I climb, with joy, the heights of Mind, / To soar o’er time and space,” it brings to my thought the lightness and bliss, or spiritual state of consciousness, where time, space, and matter are unknown. Mrs. Hay’s poem was set to music as a hymn, and it ends,
Till time and space and fear are naught
My quest shall never cease,
Thy presence ever goes with me
And Thou dost give me peace.

Because a trained athlete has practiced her skills so many times, she often doesn’t have to think about the next shot or move. She simply knows what to do and does it. Time and space are not a factor. In sports, this is called being “in the zone.” Mrs. Hay’s words, to me, describe what we could call “the healing zone.”
