From childhood on, people kept asking most of us, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" And who of us could say? We kept growing out of what we had grown into. We are even now a picture in our own mind's eye.
Human reasoning, unaided by perception of the spiritual dimension, frequently ends in limitation or frustration. When encountering the problems of the world, human beings often protest, resist, lament, rebel, disobey laws, make wars, despair, try escapism, or give up too easily.

It is recorded in the Scriptures that the Pharisees, who insisted on a strict observance of the letter of the Mosaic law, attempted to discredit Jesus, who had brought a new commandment of love to the people. At one time they sent their disciples and the Herodians to trap Jesus by asking him if it was lawful to pay taxes, or tribute, to Caesar.
What is one's defense when one is faced with fear, panic, disaster, riots, and other aggressive appearances and suggestions of evil? It is in knowing and demonstrating that man's identity is indestructible because man, God's spiritual idea, lives, moves, and has his being in God, Mind, infinite good. In the degree that one recognizes this truth, the claim that evil can destroy man is annulled.
Those who have an ardent love for and desire to practice Christian Science have a great opportunity today to arouse and awaken receptive human beings to the healing touch of the Christ, Truth. A beautiful hymn in the Christian Science Hymnal calls thus to those who are striving to be Christianly scientific healers: The cause requires unswerving might: With God alone agree.
In the book of Leviticus is this loving admonition to the Israelites: "When ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleanings of thy harvest. And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the Lord your God.
