Mankind is groping for light on many things, but especially for an understanding of that which will bring freedom and peace to men individually and collectively, for the truth about God and the universe, including man. Many have given up hope of knowing in any degree the truth of real being.
Neither mystery nor fear is aroused in the thought of the careful reader by the terms "mental practice" and "mental malpractice" used by Mary Baker Eddy, the beloved Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, in her writings. In these contrasting terms attention is drawn to divinely right thinking based on what is eternally true concerning God and His creation, in contradistinction to the opposite false thinking or mortal imagining and willful desire.
From time immemorial there have been individuals who have aspired to rule over others, and nations that have sought to subjugate other nations. Indeed, human history includes the recording of selfishly ambitious efforts of men and of nations to increase their own interests and authority, even though it were through ruthless violation of the rights of others.
On page 83 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy has written, "Science only can explain the incredible good and evil elements now coming to the surface. " To the inevitable conflict thus arising, Christian Science declares the power of divine might to expose and destroy every form of materialism.
On page 29 of "Unity of Good" our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, says, "There is but one God, one Soul, or Mind, and that one is infinite, supplying all that is absolutely immutable and eternal,—Truth, Life, Love. " The student of Christian Science is learning that there is no finite soul or souls, but that Soul is God, infinite and indivisible.
The question, "Who am I?" is one which confronts everyone. Indeed it is a fundamental question because it involves an understanding of God and man.
The Apostle Paul's two letters to Timothy and one to Titus are commonly referred to as the "Pastoral Epistles," because they pay much attention to the duties of Christian pastors or ministers. Many scholars contend that at the close of Paul's two years of semi captivity at Rome ( Acts 28:30 ), he was brought to trial and acquitted, and was thus free to continue his active ministry.
Prayerful and earnest endeavors enabled Mrs. Eddy to discover Christian Science, Christ's remedy for every human ill.
" He sent his word, and healed them. " This statement describes the Christian Science treatment, for such treatment is the Word of God finding expression in the activity of true prayer.
