On page 29 of "Unity of Good" our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, says, "There is but one God, one Soul, or Mind, and that one is infinite, supplying all that is absolutely immutable and eternal,—Truth, Life, Love. " The student of Christian Science is learning that there is no finite soul or souls, but that Soul is God, infinite and indivisible.
The question, "Who am I?" is one which confronts everyone. Indeed it is a fundamental question because it involves an understanding of God and man.
The Apostle Paul's two letters to Timothy and one to Titus are commonly referred to as the "Pastoral Epistles," because they pay much attention to the duties of Christian pastors or ministers. Many scholars contend that at the close of Paul's two years of semi captivity at Rome ( Acts 28:30 ), he was brought to trial and acquitted, and was thus free to continue his active ministry.
Prayerful and earnest endeavors enabled Mrs. Eddy to discover Christian Science, Christ's remedy for every human ill.
" He sent his word, and healed them. " This statement describes the Christian Science treatment, for such treatment is the Word of God finding expression in the activity of true prayer.
The wise man said, "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. " This heart that we are to "keep" is our citadel.
Mary baker eddy , the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes in "Miscellaneous Writings" ( p. 174 ): "Let us have a clearing up of abstractions.
Christ jesus was ever conscious of the fact that God's man is the expression of good alone, he proved this beyond doubt when he raised Lazarus from the tomb, for he destroyed not only the belief in death but also the belief in the illness that had resulted in death. In other words, Jesus scientifically proved that in spiritual history neither illness nor death has place.
The strongest argument for good is a good example. Paul indicated this in his letter to Timothy, pointing out that if the early Christians would convert others to Christianity they must be living examples of Christian teaching.
Human thought is being educated progressively out of its limitations toward values infinite and eternal. All that is true must in its fundamental nature be known spiritually, since the truth of being is wholly spiritual.
