MAN'S SPIRITUAL HISTORY

From the May 1942 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christ jesus was ever conscious of the fact that God's man is the expression of good alone, he proved this beyond doubt when he raised Lazarus from the tomb, for he destroyed not only the belief in death but also the belief in the illness that had resulted in death. In other words, Jesus scientifically proved that in spiritual history neither illness nor death has place.

In speaking of this healing, which has impressed humanity through the centuries, Mary Baker Eddy says (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 75), "Jesus restored Lazarus by the understanding that Lazarus had never died, not by an admission that his body had died and then lived again."

Man, as the expression of infinite good, which is God, cannot be associated with anything unlike good. Mrs. Eddy gave convincing proof that she understood this fact by healing disease through her realization of the harmony of spiritual man.
