Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

"A VERY PRESENT HELP IN TROUBLE"

In "Christian Science versus Pantheism" Mary Baker Eddy writes ( p. 6 ), "Finally, brethren, let us continue to denounce evil as the illusive claim that God is not supreme, and continue to fight it until it disappears,—but not as one that beateth the mist, but lifteth his head above it and putteth his foot upon a lie.

TRUTH IS NOT INVADED

Since the commencement of present hostilities, many of the peace-loving peoples of the world have been ruthlessly driven from their homes and compelled to surrender their native lands to the aggressive forces of armed invaders, and apparently so successful have been these destructive forces that other nations have been continually threatened by fear of encroachment and subordination. Christian Science, as revealed to the world by its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, teaches that violent methods, being contrary to Christianity, must inevitably fail, and her words should be a source of great encouragement and strength to all Christian peoples wherever they may be.

MAN'S GLORIOUS HISTORY

If we would progress in the study of Christian Science, we must honestly ask ourselves whether we have accepted without reservation the vast statement of John, "Beloved, now are we the sons of God. " The word "now" is not qualified.

RESOLVING "THINGS INTO THOUGHTS"

In the year 1866 our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, discovered Christian Science. This Science reveals the great truth that Spirit is All-in-all, and that matter or mortal mind is but false mortal belief.

MEANS OF TRAVEL IN NEW TESTAMENT TIMES

A question which often arises with reference to the New Testament characters concerns their means of travel; for we read of the Master journeying all over Palestine, while we find Paul in such widely separated lands as Arabia and Italy, Syria and Macedonia, Galatia and Greece. Tradition would carry such Christian pioneers still farther afield, to Spain, Britain, and elsewhere, and whether or not these latter journeys were actually carried out, they are not at all impossible, for in that age methods of communication were by no means as restricted as one might perhaps suppose.

HOW TO APPLY GOD'S LAW TO HUMAN PROBLEMS

Accepting God's law as absolute, Christian Scientists are enabled through prayer to utilize with increasing confidence the treasures of Truth and Love gained by this understanding. God's law is above human variance; it is established, unassailable, infallible.

THE PURITY OF CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

In "Rudimental Divine Science" ( p. 1 ) Mary Baker Eddy asks the question, "How would you define Christian Science?" and answers it thus: "As the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony.

"UNDER HIS WINGS"

Surely never more vitally nor more imperatively has the subject of security and defense engaged the thoughts of world citizenry than today. It is apparent that adequate armament, military measures, and preparedness are essential in human governments until men and nations have learned to subjugate their lust for gain, greed, and mad ambition, and to respect the rights, lives, and liberty of innocent peoples.

"THE LIFE DIVINE"

A soldier serving in France A during the World War was engaged in artillery target practice so near the battle front that the roar from the heavy firing could be heard, and the glare from the huge guns could be seen at night. He had become interested in Christian Science, and he withdrew each night to a small shed on a hillside near by, where he read the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy in the light of a candle which he carried with him.

UNIVERSAL SALVATION

Certainly , no earnest student of Christian Science could overlook his individual responsibility to think correctly about world affairs today. Salvation is individual.
