RIGHTLY REFUTING ERROR

From the March 1942 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science is essentially a religion of healing, but not merely healing of physical disease, for its ultimate mission is that of destroying sin, the wrong thinking, of individuals, and hence of all mankind.

The teachings of this divine Science are based on those of the great Master and Way-shower, Christ Jesus, and its healing methods are the same as those he practiced in his ministry among men. Of his mission and his work, Mary Baker Eddy writes on page 18 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "Jesus acted boldly, against the accredited evidence of the senses, against Pharisaical creeds and practices, and he refuted all opponents with his healing power."

The resistance to the Christ, Truth, today, as in Jesus' day, comes from the one evil or the evil one, which must be refuted by the healing power of Christian Science, shown in the destruction of error in whatever form it may assert itself. This is the mission to which Christian Scientists must devote themselves if they would be true followers of Christ, Truth.
