The student of Christian Science early notes the importance attached to demonstration; in fact, he finds that it is paramount in his progress and success. He therefore earnestly seeks the spiritual meaning of the word and its correct employment in daily experience.
Right thinking is of paramount importance— now. It is clear that if wrong thinking has brought about wrong world conditions, right thinking alone can correct them.
To the Christian Scientist, loyalty to his Leader's teachings should be of the utmost importance. Indeed, such steadfast loyalty enables the student to discern with metaphysical clearness between the genuine and spurious, the true and false, the real and unreal.
JOHN THE BAPTIST played a most significant part in bringing about the transition from the Old Testament to the New, and may well be described as one of the chief links uniting the two volumes of our Bible. Born in a priestly household, he was still essentially a prophet, and so in himself he helped to heal the ancient breach between priesthood and prophecy so often apparent in the Old Testament, thus preparing for the broader and more tolerant Gospel of the New.
TO many there may come a sense of doubt, depression, discouragement, and failure. It may be over problems of sickness, of discord, or of supply, when human efforts, although perhaps well directed and earnestly applied, utterly fail.
ELIJAH the Tishbite, a prophet in Israel, is an outstanding character of the Bible, because of his great spiritual vision and moral courage. At one time in his experience, however, he became so frightened by the vindictive threats of Jezebel, a heathen queen of Israel, that he fled into the wilderness and sat under a juniper tree, apparently overcome with self-pity, fear, discouragement, and personal responsibility.
WITH tender persuasion Christian Science is revealing to mankind the truth necessary for the correction of error, for the healing of the woes of the world. Because it is the law of God, Christian Science is irrevocable, its continuity unbroken, its healing power never impaired.
