Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

THE AMERICAN STANDARD VERSION

While the Revised Version of the Bible was prepared by a large group of thoroughly competent scholars, their insight and scholarship were often obscured or limited by a policy of conservatism, partly self-imposed by the group, and partly required by the Anglican Council which sponsored the rendering. Laudable though such caution was up to a point, as obviating any extreme or unwarranted changes, on the other hand it meant that certain changes, however justifiable, could not be made because of their novelty.

"BE NOT AFRAID, ONLY BELIEVE"

In one simple sentence Christ Jesus gave to humanity the key to an infallible, scientific healing method, when he spoke these memorable words to one of the rulers of the synagogue: "Be not afraid, only believe. " Bible students are familiar with the incident.

"WELLS OF SALVATION"

The prophet Isaiah, in joyful thanksgiving, sang, "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. " He then left this promised blessing to those who likewise put their trust in God: "Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

GRACE

On page 4 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, declares that "what we most need is the prayer of fervent desire for growth in grace. " This passage and others in the same work show the great importance which Mrs.

"THE EVERGREEN OF SOUL"

To lovers of beautiful literature, the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, abound in passages of unsurpassed richness and color. An arresting example of this is to be found in the Preface to her book "Miscellaneous Writings" ( pp.

KEEP GOING

Approaching a range of high mountains that extended across their pathway as far as the eye could see, some motorists amused themselves by speculating at what point they would enter and cross the range, for their destination lay many miles beyond the mountains. Each had a different opinion, but none was correct, for they entered a mountain pass that could not be seen from a distance.

ABSOLUTE SCIENCE AND HUMAN FOOTSTEPS

Students of the Scriptures have frequently found it difficult rightly to regard the presentation of Truth in its eternal, unchanging, and absolute aspect, and the application of Truth to the human footsteps relative to progress, in overcoming the obstacles of mortal sense. The many writers of the sacred books, living in different ages and under varied governments, and experiencing various degrees of inspiration, sometimes represented God as "beholding the evil and the good," and a mortal as mourning, "My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.

RIGHT DETERMINATION

A Dictionary defines the word "determination" in part as follows: "The quality of mind which reaches definite conclusions; decision; resoluteness. " These synonyms of "determination" are also given: "Conclusion, judgment, purpose; resolution, resolve, firmness.

"REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY"

One of the Ten Commandments provides that the Sabbath day shall be remembered and kept holy. In various ways men have been subjected to definite laws regarding the observance of this ordinance.

THE CORRECT VIEW

It was a bright summer's day and a student of Christian Science was looking out through the window upon the beauties of the countryside. His interest was aroused by the discovery that, when viewed through one part of the window, houses and trees appeared misshapen, while through another section of the pane the same objects seemed almost unrecognizable.
