Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

WORK

Christian Scientists cannot help observing that the successful student is one who works and studies, studies and works, unremittingly and consecratedly; who is faithful and consistent in his persistent search of the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings, in prayer, in church work, in the reading of the Christian Science periodicals, in the unflagging effort to see that his every thought, word, and deed expresses God's infinite love.

SECURITY

Centuries ago, a multitude gathered together on a hillside heard the answer to the human longing for security, for freedom from anxiety and deliverance from every vexing human difficulty. Jesus gave a simple, direct, and sure way in these words: "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

CHURCH MEMBERS AND USHERS

The ushers in Churches of Christ, Scientist, act as representatives of the members of the church, in welcoming the people and making them feel at home and comfortable while attending the services. Metaphysical work to make the services more fruitful, however, is not an obligation of the ushers only, but of the entire membership.

FREEDOM AND LAW

There is much talk of freedom in these days, especially among the younger generation. Such phrases as "the necessity for self-expression," "freedom of life and experience," are heard on every side, though to maturer thinkers these terms sometimes seem more nearly to connote self-indulgence and the loss of wholesome restraints, than true freedom.

VIGOR AND VICTORY

The student of Christian Science is progressively aware of the beauty and vigor of the language employed by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and her other writings. One passage especially impressed itself upon a student who had systematically studied Mrs.

THE DEMANDS OF TRUTH

Christian Science reveals and demonstrates exact, eternal, unvarying Truth. It awakens in its students the perception of that which is real, the understanding of that which is true, the cognition of that which has actual existence.

RIGHT VIEW OF NATURE

Those who consider the material universe, so called, with all that it contains, its systems of arrangement, the sequence of specific forms, and the natural law and order which they apparently follow, are sometimes persuaded to believe they see in it the handiwork of God, as its purposive cause, and therefore something virtually to be worshiped. When they contemplate the beauties of the earth, the succession of the seasons, the fruits and the flowers, the exquisite snowflake or ice crystal, the loveliness of day and night, of sea and mountain, they are pressed with questionings concerning the source of the grandeur, the usefulness, the marvels, which lie beyond their own powers to produce or perhaps to control.

DISCOURAGEMENT OR PROGRESS

Of interest to all students of Christian Science is the statement on page 254 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, "Individuals are consistent who, watching and praying, can 'run, and not be weary;.

OUR REAL SELF

How often has the expression, "Be yourself!" uttered goodnaturedly but with no thought of its deeper implications, aroused one from a sense of pride, anger, or gloom, and healed a situation that might have led to friction and discord! Even this casual use of the expression is an admission that one has a better selfhood than the one that is seen in ill nature. But to the Christian Scientist, who knows something of spiritual identity, finding the real self means entertaining only the perfect ideas of divine Mind, and eliminating the erroneous suggestions that represent anything less than the image and likeness of God.

"THE NUMERALS OF INFINITY"

The distinctive feature of the mission of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, is her revelation of the absolutely scientific, invariable, and demonstrable nature of Truth. Indeed, Mrs.
