In the earlier stages of their growth in understanding, students of Christian Science sometimes make too much of the uncovering and denial of evil. On the other hand, they may have a tendency to disregard evil—close their eyes to it, so to speak—and believe they are falling from their standard of spiritual thinking if they admit there is a claim of error.
No one could be expected to face life enthusiastically without a definite feeling that there is some purpose in it, and that this purpose extends to his individual living. A completely purposeless life would be a blank experience: it would not be life at all.

On pages 426 and 427 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy makes two arresting statements.
