WHAT ARE WE WINNING?

UNDER the marginal heading, "Standpoint revealed," Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" ( p. 239 ): "To ascertain our progress, we must learn where our affections are placed and whom we acknowledge and obey as God.

"A LITTLE MEMBER"

TO one newly commencing the study of the Bible it may come as a surprise to find therein considerable mention of the tongue, referred to by James as "a little member. " In the Old Testament it is spoken of, certain passages in the Psalms and in Proverbs reiterating the good or the evil results which follow the uses to which this "little member" may be put.

OVERCOMING CHRONIC LACK

BY many, lack may be believed to have become chronic when to mortal sense it has continued for a long time. Many sufferers tolerate lack as an almost inescapable, even normal, part of their experiences; while they think of habitual plenitude as something intended for others more fortunate.

SACRED COVENANTS

IN human affairs covenants or contracts arise from the need for an established, definite procedure in the attaining to a particular result, and the agreement continues in force until the end in view has been reached. In order to insure results and the favorable outcome of the undertaking in question, the duties, rights, and tasks of each individual concerned are exactly designated and defined; and the participants by affixing their signatures acknowledge their acceptance of the terms of the covenant and the obligations devolving upon them.

" ENTER into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. " "Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.

OUR "FIRST WORKS"

CHRISTIAN SCIENTISTS may be grateful indeed that the right sense of work is becoming more apparent, and also that they are seeing the need of continuing "the first works" referred to in the Revelation of St. John, the active interest in and demonstration of spiritual power.

MAN, THE IMAGE AND LIKENESS OF GOD

THE likeness that will never fade is that of man in the image and likeness of God. Whenever this true image is recognized, the unchangeable concept of man begins to be established in consciousness.

DEMONSTRATING ETERNAL LIFE

ETERNAL life was demonstrated by Christ Jesus as the divine consummation of his ministry, and the possibility of its present attainment is frequently mentioned in the New Testament. For example, in the Gospel by John we find the assurance that those who believe in the Christ "have eternal life.

ALL–SEEING LOVE

JESUS the Christ came to teach that God, our Father, is divine, infinite Love, the one Mind, in which all good is resident, and to show us how to reflect Love, so that we may bring good into visible expression in our daily experiences. It is only material belief, ignorance of God as Love, that blinds us to ever present good.

COURAGE

IT has been tersely put, "Conquest pursues, where courage leads the way. " How necessary it is at all times to equip one's self with courage, the more efficaciously to meet the arguments of fear and lack so common to mankind.
