Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

"DESPISE NOT ONE OF THESE LITTLE ONES"

JESUS said, "Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones. " The teachings of Christianity came like a gleam of light and love into the lives of some of the slaves of ancient Rome.

ROUSE YE AND GLORIFY GOD

ROUSE , ye soldiers of the cross! " Here is an order for the Christian Scientist. God has called us, individually, to be obedient to His law.

THE LESSON-SERMON

FOR some years a student of Christian Science has found much joy in the realization that each By-Law in the Manual of The Mother Church can be profitably read and studied by every member of The Mother Church or of a branch church. One is apt to regard a By-Law as applying merely to the governing or business arrangement of the work of whatever board or committee is taking care of a particular activity.

PERSISTENCY AND PROGRESS

A DEFINITE command in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," one which might be said to form a climax to the instruction given in that remarkable textbook, is found on page 496 , where Mrs. Eddy writes, "Hold perpetually this thought,—that it is the spiritual idea, the Holy Ghost and Christ, which enables you to demonstrate, with scientific certainty, the rule of healing, based upon its divine Principle, Love, underlying, overlying, and encompassing all true being.

REFUTING OPPONENTS

ONE of the evidences of the greatness of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, was her courage. Alone with God she faced the entrenched beliefs of the world in the fields of healing, religion, philosophy, and physical science.

SUFFICIENCY

THE cause—God—which has produced the spiritual universe must have infinite resources for the eternal existence of its perfect work, laws for its continual government, power everlastingly to perpetuate it. This cause must be inseparable from its product, infinitely intelligent concerning it, and flawless in the maintenance of it.

"KINGS AND PRIESTS UNTO GOD"

HISTORY furnishes a marvelous panorama of civilization's upward struggle from darkness to light, from the shackles of ignorance and slavery towards higher intelligence and a larger freedom. Each onward footstep along this pathway of progress has witnessed an ever increasing measure of good in human experience.

THE RADIANCE OF HIS LIKENESS

Man is the reflection of God, Mind, the eternal expression of divine Love; therefore, man is at-one with Love, knows what Love knows, feels only the impetus of Love, is attracted only by Love, and is forever fulfilling God's loving purpose. Remembering this, we cannot be made to listen to the argument of error that we live only to think of ourselves, and that if we can attain so-called material good we shall be willing to rest in it.

THE WILL OF GOD

Our Master taught us to pray, "Thy will be done," and he declared that whosoever did God's will was his "brother, and sister, and mother. " On the other hand, the Bible, throughout the Old Testament and the New, is strong in its reprobation of the human will.

HAVE WE TIME?

The writer of Ecclesiastes asserts, "Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerneth both time and judgment. " May we not assume that this commandment has been epitomized for us by our master Teacher and Way-shower in his Sermon on the Mount in the words, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you"? Many persons freely admit that it is a desirable and a helpful thing to be familiar with the teachings of the Bible, particularly with the life and mission of Christ Jesus; but ask them individually why they have made so little study of this great Book, and they may reply that they have never had time to study it, enumerating many excuses.
