The librarian of the Reading Room in Madison, Indiana, received a call at home from a woman who said she wanted to know more about spirituality and it had come to her that Christian Science was what could help her. The women met at the Reading Room, and the librarian was glad to have a copy of the September 2, 1985, Christian Science Sentinel to give to the other woman.
The material world tells us constantly that both good and evil are evolving from matter and that through human knowledge we will eventually shackle the evil and allow the good to thrive unopposed. When things are going well we might lose sight of the fact that there is a true, spiritual sense of good and accept the erroneous notion that "material" good has the upper hand, and if left alone by any malicious evil this apparent good will continue to evolve in progressive ways as if it were infinite.
A short time ago two Christian Scientists who care deeply about the Christian Science movement were talking about the challenges it is now facing. One of them commented on how a number of fellow church members had observed that in recent months especially they had felt "besieged" by error.

Since the discovery of Christian Science in 1866, countless men, women, and children have been liberated from sin, healed of disease, and awakened to fuller happiness and productivity. These individuals naturally have a deep and sincere appreciation for Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science and the Leader of the Christian Science movement.
