We may yearn for the inspiration that allows us to feel the full impact of the original message in Bible stories and to apply the lessons learned to our own daily living. If we do, it is often helpful to consider the effect of environmental conditions on Biblical imagery.
What is the real church work? Are we bringing the light of Christ to our community? So often we get involved with the routine procedures of church committees and meetings, which are necessary to the workings of a church, but we neglect the true work of the Church. Christian caring and sharing, which promote healing for each other and the community, are really our true church work.
ACTION IN THE FIELD The following experiences were sent from a branch church in Western Australia. We have many people who come to our Reading Room feeling a sense of loss— loss of dignity, hope, faith, of someone they love dearly, or perhaps a loss of the true sense of substance or joy.
Doesn't it bring a feeling of relief and peace to recognize that our real identity is spiritual, immortal, perfect! After all of our longing to be identified as one who has dignity and dominion, we learn from the Bible and the teachings of Christian Science that these characteristics are inherent in our true identity now and forever. We learn it is natural for us to express fearlessness, brilliance, intelligence, and beauty.
You do something kind and thoughtful for another and receive no thanks. Friends and family members rarely call or answer your letters.

As a boy I used to enjoy watching my favorite superheroes on television. Invariably, each of these characters had two identities—one as a famous crime fighter, the other as an ordinary person, usually with a personality completely different from the hero image.
Every true name for Deity represents a momentous breakthrough in the understanding of God's oneness and allness. It's a further appearing of the deific nature as it already exists in eternity.
